I was always intrigued with the Monstera leaves that grew in
my mother’s garden. The natural holes in the leaves illustrates a unique quality, while the way they grow so close together to each other, blending together, demonstrates the bond of Hawai`i’s people to their 'Ohana.
Tourist come to vacation here from all around the world and see the beauty of the Hawaiian islands and want something to remember the magnificence of our land. People from Hawai`i move to the mainland but their hearts will always be rooted here. That is why I started Hawaiian Metal Art, whether it's a piece to enhance the inside or outside of your home with a wall hanging, light sconce or décor for your gate . Whether you live across the sea, or within the Hawaiian Islands, I hope that my artwork can keep the Hawaiian inspiration into your home.
The pieces that you see created are all designed from individual leaves traced onto aluminum; hand cut, filed, welded, and painted with copper. Finally, the leaves are treated with special paints and acids for the patina effect.
